For the month of April, I chose the monthly challenge of learning a new creative skill. I was at Disneyland with my friend when she mentioned she was learning embroidery. I’ve always loved embroidery and thought that it was incredibly difficult and something I wouldn’t be able to do. She insisted that it was easier than she thought and told me about these kits she purchased. I went online and bought my own kits and decided to make it my 30-minute goal to learn how to embroider.
Embroidery is everything I want it to be and more. It is relaxing, fun, and creative. The bonus is that it helps me keep my hands busy and helps cut down the time I spend scrolling aimlessly on my phone.
The embroidery kit I purchased comes with everything you need to learn. Hoops, thread, needles, threader, seam ripper, and instructions. It also comes with 4 beautiful patterns. The instructions are not easy to understand, in my opinion, I learn much better from watching someone. Whenever a new stitch is introduced, I head over to YouTube and look up that stitch. It made it easier to learn it that way.
I am so happy took the time to learn something new and that it is beautiful and fun. Especially when it was something I wanted to learn but told myself I was incapable of doing.
How many experiences do we miss out on in life because we tell ourselves we can’t before we even try? Small actions compound. Let’s all try something small we don’t think we can do. Show yourself you can, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Next Month’s Goal:
Join me for May where my next goal is to meditate for 30 minutes a day!
