Travel the World from Home: Books That Take You Places

January 19, 2026 by Tatiana Leave a Comment

I am on team “I-Wish-I-Could-Travel-Constantly”. But this day and age, travel can be expensive, and we all don’t necessarily have the means or the time to take vacations. While I would drop everything for a trip back to England, that isn’t my situation. What has consistently been in my life since I was a little girl is reading.

Traveling via books has been a source of comfort to me from a very young age. Harry Potter had me traveling to a magical world. Historical fiction favorites had me traveling in time. As a teen, I read anything that would let me experience my dream destination, London.

Books have been a means of transporting the reader into the lives of others. Into new worlds, new locations and new experiences. These 4 books have the locations they take place in at the heart of their stories. You can travel from the highlands of Scotland to the Alaskan frontier. Today, we will be traveling within and beyond. We will span genres and locations. Enjoy the journey!…

The Best Books I Read This Year

December 21, 2025 by Tatiana Leave a Comment

I am a lifelong reader, and I always keep track of my favorite books that I read in a year. This year, I read 66 books. While not all books are noteworthy, I did enjoy the bulk of what I read this year. I am a stickler for how I rate books, which I will explain in further detail because this list is in order from low to high. None dip below 4 stars, and all have something to offer. Some novels have beautiful prose, others are page turners, some leave you crying while others leave you thinking. While these are my top books of 2025, that does not mean they were released in 2025. We are spanning decades and genres because I read largely based on my mood, reading multiple books at a time. Feel free to peruse this list to add some to your TBR….

Books to Read in Fall: The Best Autumn Reads for Every Mood

September 25, 2025 by Tatiana

A book lays open with a cup of coffee among fall colored blankets. The title says Books to Read in the FallAutumn is officially here! For me that means it is time to sit outside and enjoy a good book. In the fall, I love a wide variety of genres to suit my mood and the weather. Here in SoCal, it is warm until November. In my town, our leaves don’t turn the way I envision they do on a beautiful New England day.

This fall, I’m not galivanting around the Scottish Highlands and being bathed in the red and oranges hues that seem to burst around you. I am in eternally green-let’s be real- brown because it never rains, Southern California.

At the slightest chill in the air, I take full advantage and run outside with a book. Autumn doesn’t look the same for everyone and that is okay. But books can help assist you to get that “autumn feeling”. Light a pumpkin spice candle and let’s dive in!…

Novellas: Books You Can Start and Finish on Your Next Flight

August 23, 2025 by Tatiana

airline window

There is something incredibly satisfying about starting a new book on a plane. I personally do not love lugging a large book around, so I find novellas to be the perfect airplane companion.

A novella is longer form than a short story but not quite the length of a full novel. Stephen King is the reason I fell in love with novellas. His novellas were my introduction to the world of short form, succinct, interesting and impactful storytelling. Coincidentally, when anyone asks me how to “get back into reading” I tell people to start small and recommend a lot of the titles I will be sharing today….
